DESCRIPTION:Please note this is a 3 session workshop. \nOne payment covers all sessions and the pattern. Fabric is not included for this workshop but you will be able to enjoy a 15% discount on all purchases at Bugweed’s ready for the day! \n  \n\nEnjoy learning how to make a versatile garment using this fantastic Tilly And The Buttons pattern. The Stevie tunic is the perfect introduction to dress making and offers both a short and long version without fastenings so no buttonholes or zips to get your head round! Choose from a top or above the knee dress length. \nCatie will guide you through reading the pattern\, cutting out the fabric and sewing up the garment. There will be a new techniques to learn such as sewing a button loop or neck ties and a patch pocket. \nPlease note that you will need to bring your fabric with you to Session 1. There is further guidance below regarding how much you will need. \n\n\n\n\nRequired sewing knowledge/experience for both sessions\n\n\n\nYou need to be able to change stitches\, stitch length and stitch width on your machine. This workshop is aimed at beginners but not sewers who have never used a machine before! \nIt would be useful if you are familiar with your machine and how to use its basic features such as winding and inserting the bobbin\, threading up your machine and needle. \nWhat will you need to bring for both sessions? \n\n\n\nYour sewing machine and instruction book\nFabric and thread… please see tables below for fabric requirements. DESCRIPTION:Our summer holiday workshops are all about creativity through textiles and media and are aimed at children and adults developing their skills in a range of areas and more importantly a chance to create and develop a love of being free to create. \nJoin Helene on this child (8+)  and adult workshop to create a fabulous fabric house and garden scene presented in an embroidery hoop. You will both learn simple methods of appliqué using either a machine or hand sewing. Helene will also help you get to grips with fussy cutting fabric to make your textile art truly personalised. \nThere is no need to worry about experience\, this is suitable for beginners to experts! Come along and enjoy using fabric scraps to make something beautiful\, it’s a great way to recycle fabric in to something lovely! \nAll materials and hoop are included in the cost and there will be a short break in the workshop with refreshments. \nWe are a neurodivergent friendly studio and understand that some people need more breaks than others. If you or your child requires any workshop adjustments please get in touch and let us know. We are more than happy to accommodate a range of needs. \nPlease note\, this workshop is for individuals aged 8 and over. Up to 2 children are welcome with one adult. SUMMARY:Make Your Own Quilted Jacket
DESCRIPTION:Please note this is a two part workshop. \nPart 1 Saturday 9th August 10.00am – 4.00pm \nPart 2 Saturday 16th August 10.00am – 4.00pm \nOne payment covers both sessions. Materials are NOT included. There is a 10% discount on all fabrics purchased for the workshop by attendees. \nDay 1 Saturday 9th August 10.00am – 4.00pm \nThe first session of this two day workshop will be focused on making the pattern for your quilted jacket and then piecing your patchwork together. Graham will guide you through the process of using your oversized sweatshirt to create a paper pattern which will then be used on the second day. You will also make up your quilt top using your own material which you have chosen prior to the day. \nBetween the two days you will need to quilt your top\, batting and lining together. Graham is kindly offering his services at a reduced rate of £35 to quilt your fabric ready for Day 2. If you are happy to quilt it yourself that is also great but will need to be quilted by Day 2. \n\nDay 2 Saturday 16th August 10.00am – 4.oopm \n\n\n\nIn this session you will be using your paper pattern to cut out and then construct your quilted jacket. Graham will help you construct the jacket and will be on hand to provide hints and tips for the tricky bits! An overlocker will be available for those who would like to overlock seams. You will hopefully leave with your quilted jacket finished or very nearly complete! \n\n\n\n\n\nRequired sewing knowledge/experience for both sessions\n\n\n\nYou will need to have experience making simple quilt tops prior to the workshop and understand how to use your sewing machine. This is not a beginners class and is ideally for those quilters who would like to construct a garment. \nWhat will you need to bring for both sessions? \n\n\n\nyour sewing machine\na layer cake or the equivalent of 2.5m of fabric for the patchwork\n1m suitable batting ie a thin\, breathable natural fibre such as cotton or bamboo\nlining fabric (this can be purchased after Day 1)\na sweatshirt one size bigger than usually worn\nmatching thread\n\n\nMachines are available to hire so please let us know if you would like to use one of our machines.

This whole project will be hand sewn so no machine needed and no experience needed! We encourage children of any age from 8+ to come along with their adult. You can either both sew one or work on the same one! \nIf you are a beginner to sewing\, whether adult or child\, Debbie will guide you through this project and demonstrate some simple stitches along the way. You will leave with a beautifully completed ladybird broach with enough fabric in your goody bag to go home and make another one! Yes! That’s buy one ticket\, get a goody bag free!! \nAll materials and a goody bag are included in the price! There will be a short break in the workshop with refreshments. \nWe are a neurodivergent friendly studio and understand that some people need more breaks than others. DESCRIPTION:Our summer holiday workshops are all about creativity through textiles and media and are aimed at children and adults developing their skills in a range of areas and more importantly a chance to create and develop a love of being free to create. \nJoin Debbie on this teen (12+) or adult workshop to create 3d flora and forna sculptures using embroidery and solufleece. Solufleece is a wash-away interfacing used create a structure on which to decorate. Once rinsed\, only the decoration is left and the interfacing has disappeared! This is often used in textiles art and is a great way to bring your sewing ideas into the 3d world! \nThis workshop will be a sewing machine based session. Machines can be provided but we encourage you to bring your own – it’s a great way to learn on them! \nWhat will I need to bring? \n\nsewing machine that you can drop the feed-dogs on (Please get in touch if you need help with this!)\nan open toe embroidery foot/ free motion embroidery foot\ncreativity and enthusiasm!\n\nAll materials are included in the price! There will be a short break in the workshop with refreshments. \nWe are a neurodivergent friendly studio and understand that some people need more breaks than others. If you or your teen requires workshop adjustments please get in touch and let us know. There will be a short break in the workshop with refreshments. \nWe are a neurodivergent friendly studio and understand that some people need more breaks than others. If you or your child requires workshop adjustments please get in touch and let us know. We are more than happy to accommodate a range of needs. \nPlease note\, this workshop is for children over 8 years old. DESCRIPTION:Please note this is a whole day workshop. \nOne payment covers the workshop and pattern. Fabric is not included for this workshop but you will be able to enjoy a 10% discount on all purchases at Bugweed’s ready for the day! \nSaturday 5th July 10.00am – 4.00pm \n\nEnjoy a whole day’s garment making using this fantastic Tilly And The Buttons pattern. The Stevie tunic is the perfect introduction to dress making and offers both a short and long version without fastenings so no buttonholes or zips to get your head round! Choose from a top or above the knee dress length. \nCatie will guide you through reading the pattern\, cutting out the fabric and sewing up the garment. There will be a new techniques to learn such as sewing a button loop or neck ties and a patch pocket. \nPlease note that you will need to bring your fabric with you for the sewing day. There is further guidance below regarding how much you will need. \n\n\n\n\nRequired sewing knowledge/experience for both sessions\n\n\n\nYou need to be able to change stitches\, stitch length and stitch width on your machine. This workshop is aimed at beginners but not sewers who have never used a machine before! \nIt would be useful if you are familiar with your machine and how to use it’s basic features such as winding and inserting the bobbin\, threading up your machine and needle. \nWhat will you need to bring for both sessions? \n\n\n\nYour sewing machine and instruction book\nFabric and thread… please see tables below for fabric requirements. If you need any help just get in touch!                                                        \nEnthusiasm!\n\n\nMachines are available to hire so please let us know if you would like to use one of our machines.

DESCRIPTION:Summer is definitely on its way and the children are off on their half term break! Get ready for the sunny weather with this fab workshop with Debbie\, our experienced sewing teacher. \nCome and learn how to sew your very own bucket hat using a sewing machine\, pattern and fabric from our great range of selected designs. \nYou can either bring your own machine or borrow one of ours to learn your skills on. This is the perfect opportunity to get to grips with a simple sewing pattern and learn how to sew a really useful item which can be made for adult or child. \nWe welcome up to two children with each adult and adults MUST stay and supervise their children in the session. Tickets are to be purchased for each child but adults go free! \nNo need to bring a pattern or fabric\, these are both included in the cost!

DESCRIPTION:Please note this is a three part workshop. \nPart 1 Tuesday 13th May 6.30pm – 9pm \nPart 2 Tuesday 20th May 6.30pm – 9pm \nPart 3 Tuesday 27th May 6.30pm – 9pm \nOne payment covers all sessions. \nPart 1 Tuesday 13th May 6.30pm – 9pm \nThe first session of this Brilliant Beginners sewing course will focus on the basic features of your sewing machine. Catie will guide you through the construction of an envelope style cushion cover. This will give you a chance to remind yourself about changing stitches and stitch length\, turning corners\, seam allowances and other important skills and sewing knowledge. \n\n\nPart 2 Tuesday 20th May 6.30pm – 9pm \n\n\n\nIn this session you will be starting the prep for making pj bottoms. Catie will explain each stage throughout the process\, learning how to read a garment pattern correctly as you go. You will accurately take our body measurements to determine what size pattern to use\, cut out the pattern and fabric and then transfer all pattern markings on to the fabric. \n\nIf patterns need to be lengthened/shortened this can easily be can be dealt with! \n\n\n\n\n\nPart 2 Tuesday 27th May 6.30pm – 9pm \n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this session you will be sewing the pj bottoms. Catie will help you gain confidence with your sewing machine to join fabrics\, follow pattern instructions and construct a simple garment. The pj bottoms will be finished and hemmed ready for wearing! \n\n\nRequired sewing knowledge/experience for both sessions \nYou need to be able to turn on your sewing machine and sew a straight stitch! \nIt would be helpful if you are familiar with your machine and how to use it’s basic features such as winding and inserting the bobbin\, threading up your machine and needle. This session is suitable for sewing machine beginners\, eager to start their sewing journey. \n\n\nWhat will you need to bring for both sessions? \n\nYour sewing machine and instruction book\nEnthusiasm!\n\n\nMachines are available to hire so please let us know if you would like to use one of our machines.

DESCRIPTION:Are you lucky enough to have a sewing machine at home but terrified to get it out the box and begin your sewing journey? Well\, this is the perfect workshop for you! Debbie\, our patient and knowledgeable tutor\, will guide you through the very basics of your sewing machine from finding the power switch to threading it up! \nWhat will I learn? \n\nthe names of the basic parts of my sewing machine\nhow to thread the top thread\nhow to wind and thread up the bobbin\nways of changing stitch patterns\nsewing in a straight line\nturning a corner\n\nand more!! \nWhat will I make? \nYou will sew your first project in the workshop and leave the session with a simple tote bag. The main aim of the workshop is to give you the confidence to go away and try simple projects on your own! \nWhat should I bring? \nYour sewing machine and the instruction booklet if you have one. We will provide fabric and thread and you can use scissors and haberdashery items from our studio resources. \nPLEASE send us the make and model of your sewing machine with your booking. This will help Debbie to know which machines will be coming to the workshop!
