SUMMARY:Create a Moorland using recycled fabrics
DESCRIPTION:Create a Moorland with recycled fabrics using straight stitch and free machine embroidery. \nJustine will teach you the skills and techniques you can use to create your own unique moorland. You may not finish your moorland during the session but you will have learnt the skills to finish it in your own time. \nRecycled fabrics will be provided for you to use but feel free to bring your own. \nWhat do you need to bring? \nYour sewing machine which must have a free machine embroidery foot \nThread \nAny recycled fabrics you wish to use (optional) \nPrevious experience required  \nYou will need to be familiar with your machine and how to use it’s basic features such as winding and inserting the bobbin\, threading up your machine and needle\, changing the feet and needle and sewing a straight stitch. This session is not suitable for complete sewing machine beginners. \nAbout our tutor \nJustine is a mixed media and textile artist based in the Howardian Hills. She uses recycled fabrics and found objects to create landscape work based predominantly in the North of England. She works from her own studio/gallery and delivers a wide range of workshops. Justine was a selected artist to take part in Landscape Artist of the Year 2022 and is represented by The Biscuit Factory\, Newcastle.

SUMMARY:Introduction to stranded colourwork knitting
DESCRIPTION:Join Catherine to learn how to knit stranded colourwork! \nIn this workshop you will learn the techniques used in knitting stranded colourwork. Working through a simple project together you will cover reading colourwork patterns and charts\, choosing and managing yarns\, and tips for maintaining even tension. By the end of the workshop you will have the techniques and confidence to tackle any colourwork project you like. \nWhat do I need to bring? \nPlease bring a 3.5mm circular needle\, 40cm long. A printed pattern and 3 balls of Jamieson’s Spindrift will be provided. \nPrevious experience required? \nAimed at anyone already comfortable with basic knitting techniques\, including knitting in the round on a circular needle. No previous colourwork experience is needed. \nAbout our tutor \nCatherine learnt to knit as a new mum\, desperate for something to do where she could see progress. It worked\, and a decade on she still loves the ability to create fabric out of yarn\, to play with colour\, texture and pattern\, and to fit garments to bodies of any shape and size. She has published several knitting patterns of her own and also enjoys spinning her own yarn. \n
