We have a beautiful rainbow of fat quarters by Alison Glass of Andover Fabrics at a special price for this workshop only. You can of course raid your own stash. \nWho is this for? This workshop is suitable for beginners to quilting. You will need to be familiar with your machine and how to use it’s basic features such as winding and inserting the bobbin\, threading up your machine and needle\, changing the feet and needle and sewing a straight stitch. This session is not suitable for complete sewing machine beginners however\, you do not need to have any experience of quilting. You must have a 1/4″ foot or the ability to move your needle to the 1/4″ seam allowance. \nWhat do I bring?  \n\nYour machine\nZipper foot\n\nYou can either raid your stash or get your supplies on the day. We’ll have a special offer for a pack of Alison Glass fat quarters for only £10 \n\nBackground print: 1 fat quarter\nLining fabric: 1 fat quarter\nA rainbow of colourful fabrics: 12 scraps 2.5″ x 1.5″\nMedium weight fusible interfacing: 50cm\n10″ closed end zip\nTwo copies of the triangle FPP template (supplied)\n\nWhat will I achieve? \nYou will sew the perfect pouch using Foundation Paper Piecing to create colourful Flying Geese panels. SUMMARY:Half Term Pottery Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This is our first collaborative workshop with Sarah from Schiewe Ceramics. We are thrilled to bring all those in our community\, age 7 and upwards\, an opportunity to be creative with air dry clay. Come and make a ladybird! \nWho is it for? \nThis fantastic ceramics workshop is aimed at all those aged 7 upwards. You will have chance to learn simple techniques and enjoy being creative whilst learning from an expert. Sarah is experienced in teaching her craft to others and is highly enthusiastic about children’s creative journeys. This is a workshop for those who are happy to experience touching and moulding clay\, you may get a bit dirty! We ask that children under 13 are supervised at all times. \nWhat do I bring? \nJust your creative enthusiasm and an adult if you are under 13 years of age. Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty and an apron if you have one! \nWhat will I achieve? \nParticipants will leave the workshop with a wonderful\, unique sculpture and will have learnt basic skills in modelling and ceramics. We hope to see lots of ladybirds! Sculptures will need to have time to dry out before being painted so painting is not included in the workshop.

SUMMARY:Half Term Pottery Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This is our first collaborative workshop with Sarah from Schiewe Ceramics. We are thrilled to bring all those in our community\, age 7 and upwards\, an opportunity to be creative with air dry clay. Come and make a ladybird! \nWho is it for? \nThis fantastic ceramics workshop is aimed at all those aged 7 upwards. You will have chance to learn simple techniques and enjoy being creative whilst learning from an expert. Sarah is experienced in teaching her craft to others and is highly enthusiastic about children’s creative journeys. This is a workshop for those who are happy to experience touching and moulding clay\, you may get a bit dirty! We ask that children under 13 are supervised at all times. \nWhat do I bring? \nJust your creative enthusiasm and an adult if you are under 13 years of age. Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty and an apron if you have one! \nWhat will I achieve? \nParticipants will leave the workshop with a wonderful\, unique sculpture and will have learnt basic skills in modelling and ceramics. We hope to see lots of ladybirds! Sculptures will need to have time to dry out before being painted so painting is not included in the workshop.

You will also get plenty of tips as to how to get the perfect corners too! \nWhat do you need to bring? \n\nSewing machine and thread\n2 skinny quarters  of 2 contrasting fabrics\nA 20″ x 20″ square quilt sandwich\nYou must have a 1/4″ foot or the ability to move your needle to the 1/4″ seam allowance\nFabric marking pen\nRuler\nRotary cutter\n\nRequired sewing knowledge/experience \nThis workshop is suitable for beginners to quilting. You will need to be familiar with your machine and how to use it’s basic features such as winding and inserting the bobbin\, threading up your machine and needle\, changing the feet and needle and sewing a straight stitch. This session is not suitable for complete sewing machine beginners however\, you do not need to have any experience of quilting. You must have a 1/4″ foot or the ability to move your needle to the 1/4″ seam allowance

If it’s time for you to master the art of sock knitting\, then join Geraldine for three 1 hour sessions with time in between to have a go at home. \nSession 1 Thursday 27th March – Cast on both of your socks using the magic loop method on the circular needles that you will receive as a free gift for booking. \nSession 2 Thursday 10th April – Learn how to turn the heel and continue to knit the body of the socks. \nSession 3 Thursday 24th April – Complete your socks and confidently cast off! \nThere is one payment for all three sessions and\, as mentioned\, you will receive your circular needles free! \nYou will need a ball of 4ply sock yarn which is available in a variety of colours in Bugweed’s yarn emporium!! \nThese are small\, relaxed knitting sessions where our lovely expert\, Geraldine\, will guide you through the process of sock knitting and answer all your questions. SUMMARY:Block of the Month
DESCRIPTION:This month Helen will guide you through using the Drunkards Path template to create a beautiful spring petal block! Mix strong colours and patterns on low volume\, neutral backgrounds to create a stunning block which can be made in to a cushion cover. Perfect for your home\, for a friend or perhaps for a mother figure…remember its Mother’s Day on the 30th March! \nWhat do you need to bring?- \n\nDrunkards path acrylic template ( preferably 4 1/2” finished)\nCharm pack or scraps that are at least 5” square for the petal block (which needs to total half a metre in total)\nHalf metre of background fabric\nThread\n28mm rotary cutter\n1/4” foot or capability to move needle on your machine to 1/4” (ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY)\nfabric marking pen\nhalf metre of batting\n\nRequired sewing knowledge/experience \nThis workshop is suitable for beginners to quilting. You will need to be familiar with your machine and how to use it’s basic features such as winding and inserting the bobbin\, threading up your machine and needle\, changing the feet and needle and sewing a straight stitch. This session is not suitable for complete sewing machine beginners however\, you do not need to have any experience of quilting. You must have a 1/4″ foot or the ability to move your needle to the 1/4″ seam allowance. Please get in touch with Bugweed’s if you would like help in sourcing the supplies required. \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Are you lucky enough to have a sewing machine at home but terrified to get it out the box and begin your sewing journey? Well\, this is the perfect workshop for you! Debbie\, our patient and knowledgeable tutor\, will guide you through the very basics of your sewing machine from finding the power switch to threading it up! \nWhat will I learn? \n\nthe names of the basic parts of my sewing machine\nhow to thread the top thread\nhow to wind and thread up the bobbin\nways of changing stitch patterns\nsewing in a straight line\nturning a corner\n\nand more!! \nWhat will I make? \nYou will sew your first project in the workshop and leave the session with a simple tote bag. The main aim of the workshop is to give you the confidence to go away and try simple projects on your own! \nWhat should I bring? \nYour sewing machine and the instruction booklet if you have one. We will provide fabric and thread and you can use scissors and haberdashery items from our studio resources. \nPLEASE send us the make and model of your sewing machine with your booking. This will help Debbie to know which machines will be coming to the workshop!

DESCRIPTION:It’s the Easter holidays and the children are on their break! We have the perfect workshop to start off your holiday at Bugweed’s with our lovely tutor Debbie. \nCome and learn some basic skills on the sewing machine together and sew a bag that you can take home. \nYou can either bring your own machine or borrow one of ours to learn your skills on. This is the perfect opportunity to get that sewing machine out that has been hiding in the back of the cupboard or that was given as a gift but has not been out of it’s box yet! \nWe welcome up to two children with each adult and adults MUST stay and supervise their children in the session. Tickets are to be purchased for each child but adults go free!
