Sometimes the table at home just isn’t big enough for large projects that need a flat surface. Whether it’s layering a quilt\, cutting out a garment pattern or planning and drafting your own pattern\, we have the answer here at Bugweed’s! \nRent a table for 2\, 4 or 6 hours on specific days and make use of our large tables. There are 5 spaces for morning and afternoon to make sure you get lots of table space. \nPlease note\, there is no tutoring with this session. Our staff will be busy in the shop and although we are always happy to help our community\, we will only be able to answer quick questions and make sure you have a cuppa!

Join her for a full day to create a quilted wreath in all your favourite festive fabrics! \nThis stunning wreath is made using the Dresden plate template and is a great way to show of your quilting skills to everyone who comes to your door! \nOur Block Of The Month\, BOTM\, sessions are full of support and friendship and we welcome both newcomers and regulars. This is the only time this workshop will run this year. \nWhat do you need to bring? \n\nSew Easy Dresden template\, at least 8.5″ deep\nA range of Christmas Fabrics at least 0.5m in total\nRibbons for hanging and bows\nThread\n28mm rotary cutter\n1/4” foot or capability to move needle on your machine to 1/4” (ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY)\nfabric marking pen\n\nWhat is included? \n\n1kg of stuffing for the wreath inner\nLight refreshments\nLaughter and friendship\n\nRequired sewing knowledge/experience \nThis workshop is suitable for all intermediate quilters. You will need to be familiar with your machine and how to use it’s features such as winding and inserting the bobbin\, threading up your machine and needle\, changing the feet and needle and sewing a straight stitch. This session is not suitable for complete sewing machine beginners. You must have a 1/4″ foot or the ability to move your needle to the 1/4″ seam allowance. DESCRIPTION:This is a 3 week workshop\, with one session each week. If you cannot attend them all\, please let us know and we will try and accommodate you as much as possible! \nJoin us on our Festive Quilting workshop with Helene. This is the perfect workshop for quilters who have begun their quilting journey and want to enjoy festive project or more experienced quilters who would like to relax and enjoy quilting without an over complicated pattern to follow. Use a festive charm pack and create a cute patchwork Christmas tree using squares and half square triangles. Let Helene guide you through the pattern\, offering advice regarding colour\, piecing techniques and finishing skills and sew a small quilt perfect as a wall hanging or little lap quilt! \nEach week there will be a different stage of the pattern taught and focused on. \nWeek 1 \nFabric choices\, layout of colours\, half square triangle cutting techniques. \nWeek 2 \nOrganising blocks and sewing blocks together. \nWeek 3 \nAdding borders\, choosing a backing fabric and basting with 505 spray. \nWhat do you need to bring? \n\nSewing machine\nEnthusiasm\nA notebook and pen\n\nWhat is included? \n\na festive charm pack\none free ‘Space to Craft’ day at Bugweed’s usually costing £14\n15% off all purchases in the shop for your quilt\n\nRequired sewing knowledge/experience \nThis workshop is suitable for beginners to quilting. You will need to be familiar with your machine and how to use it’s basic features such as winding and inserting the bobbin\, threading up your machine and needle\, changing the feet and needle and sewing a straight stitch. This session is not suitable for complete sewing machine beginners however\, you do not need to have any experience of quilting. \nAbout our tutor \nHelene is not only an all round fabulous person but also a fabulous quilter! She has many years of teaching little people in school and so has the patience of a saint\, which makes teaching quilting to us adults a breeze! Helene loves quilting with a passion and can be found at her beloved Bernina sewing machine on an evening and weekend. She is part of the Yorkshire Modern Quilters group and enjoys experimenting with colour and pattern in her quilts\, bags and other hand made items. Helene is very understanding of people’s individual needs and ways of learning so if you have any worries or questions about the workshops please just ask.

Test your skills and learn some new ones on this exciting\, creative workshop! \nIn this crochet session\, Steffi will walk you through making a granny square for jewellery\, sharing clever tips to conquer the magic ring and minimize sewing in ends. You’ll work with delicate sterling silver findings and a 0.9mm hook\, with the option to go smaller or larger to suit your style. Leave with a beautiful pair of handmade earrings and the skills to make more. \nThread and light refreshments are included. Please purchase/ bring your own crochet hooks to the session. They will be available to purchase in store if you are adding to your collection! \nLeft or right handed\, everyone is welcome. \nWhat do you need to bring? \n\ncrochet hooks – 0.9mm and any others around this size that you would like to try\nyour glasses if you need them!!\npatience\nenthusiasm\n\nRequired  knowledge/experience \nSuitable for advanced beginners. You need to know how to basic crochet stitches\, chain stitches\, double crochet and treble crochet stitches. \nAbout our tutor \nSteffi Glaves is a wonderful human being as well as a designer & maker\, specialising in micro crochet and jewellery making. She sells her finished work and crochet patterns on Etsy and has had her work featured in various magazines including Simply Crochet and Landscape Magazine. Steffi is the author of 2 books\, which will be available to purchase on the evening. Both 100 Micro Crochet Motifs and 100 Micro Amigurumi have been a great success both in the UK and further afield.

SUMMARY:Bloom Together - Spooky Wallhanging Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join Helene on this child (8+)  and adult workshop to create a creative spooky scene  in an embroidery hoop ready to hang on your wall! You will both learn simple methods of appliqué using either a machine or hand sewing. Helene will also help you get to grips with fussy cutting fabric to make your textile art truly personalised. \nThere is no need to worry about experience\, this is suitable for beginners to experts! Come along and enjoy using fabric scraps to make something fabulous\, it’s a great way to recycle fabric in to something unique! \nAll materials and hoop are included in the cost and there will be a short break in the workshop with refreshments. \nWe are a neurodivergent friendly studio and understand that some people need more breaks than others. If you or your child requires any workshop adjustments please get in touch and let us know. We are more than happy to accommodate a range of needs. \nPlease note\, this workshop is for individuals aged 8 and over. Up to 2 children are welcome with one adult. DESCRIPTION:Please note this is a 3 session workshop. \nOne payment covers all sessions and the pattern. Fabric is not included for this workshop but you will be able to enjoy a 15% discount on all purchases at Bugweed’s ready for the day! \n  \n\nEnjoy learning how to make a versatile garment using this fantastic Tilly And The Buttons pattern. The Stevie tunic is the perfect introduction to dress making and offers both a short and long version without fastenings so no buttonholes or zips to get your head round! Choose from a top or above the knee dress length. \nCatie will guide you through reading the pattern\, cutting out the fabric and sewing up the garment. There will be a new techniques to learn such as sewing a button loop or neck ties and a patch pocket. \nPlease note that you will need to bring your fabric with you to Session 1. There is further guidance below regarding how much you will need. \n\n\n\n\nRequired sewing knowledge/experience for both sessions\n\n\n\nYou need to be able to change stitches\, stitch length and stitch width on your machine. DESCRIPTION:This month Helen will guide you through piecing a beautiful Double Wedding Ring block. Use up some of your scrap stash or treat yourself to some fat quarters and a contrasting plain to create a stunning block! \nPlease note this is the repeat of the September BOTM. Please refrain from attending both sessions\, thank you! \nWhat do you need to bring? \n\nTemplate for Double Wedding Ring (please ask for more details if needed)\nFabric scraps at least 3″ square for pieced rings\nFat quarter of contrasting fabric if doing plain rings rather than pieced rings\n0.5m background fabric\nThread\n28mm rotary cutter\n1/4” foot or capability to move needle on your machine to 1/4” (ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY)\nfabric marking pen\n\nA nice to have- \n\nRotating cutting mat – can be ordered from Bugweed’s in advance!\n\nRequired sewing knowledge/experience \nThis workshop is suitable for intermediate quilters. You will need to be familiar with your machine and how to use it’s features such as winding and inserting the bobbin\, threading up your machine and needle\, changing the feet and needle and sewing a straight stitch. This session is not suitable for complete sewing machine beginners. You must have a 1/4″ foot or the ability to move your needle to the 1/4″ seam allowance.
