DESCRIPTION:Join Catherine for this fabulous workshop introducing you to how to knit a shawl. \nCatherine will show you different examples of what is possible and will show you how to start your own shawl project. \nYou will be able to take the pattern home with you to finish your shawl. \nWhat do I need to bring? \nThe shawl pattern we will be using is flexible. You are welcome to use either DK or aran weight yarn. Please bring 200g of yarn with you. If you are using DK yarn you will need to bring 4.5 or 5mm needle or 5.5mm needles for aran yarn. \nAttendees are welcome to a 10% discount at Bugweeds Yarn and Crafts when purchasing workshop supplies. \nPrevious experience \nYou need basic knitting skills for this workshop. You will learn how to recognise the type of adjustment that’s needed\, including: \n\nFull tummy\nCrotch curves (aka ‘camel toe’ & ‘hungry bum’)\nFull and flat bum\nFull and thin thighs\nFull calf\n\nYou will also have lengthened and shortened a crotch and completed a tummy or bum adjustment on a pattern piece. \n\nWhat do you need to bring? \nFeel free to bring a pair of trousers you don’t think fit you very well. Everything else will be provided. \nRequired sewing knowledge/experience \nYou also need a basic understanding of using a garment pattern. DESCRIPTION:This month Helen will show you how to create the orange peel block. \n   \nThis workshop is suitable for beginners to quilting. You will need to be familiar with your machine and how to use it’s basic features such as winding and inserting the bobbin\, threading up your machine and needle\, changing the feet and needle and sewing a straight stitch. This session is not suitable for complete sewing machine beginners however\, you do not need to have any experience of quilting. You must have a 1/4″ foot or the ability to move your needle to the 1/4″ seam allowance. \nWhat do you need to bring for one sample block? \n\nSewing machine\nPlain background fabric (x 1 fat quarter)\n4 fat quarter fabrics or scraps which contrast against the background\, either plain or non directional small prints. (The fabric pieces need to be at least 5″ square)\n1/4 meter of light weight iron on fusible (very important it’s lightweight and it has a fusible side)\nChopstick or a  tool suitable for turning out points\nThread which blends with all the contrast fabric\nYou must have a 1/4″ foot or the ability to move your needle to the 1/4″ seam allowance\nFabric marking pen\nRuler\nRotary cutter\nScissors\n\nRequired sewing knowledge/experience \nThis workshop is suitable for beginners to quilting. SUMMARY:Sewing School: Making a dress with French seams
DESCRIPTION:Please note this is a two part workshop. Part 1 will take place on Saturday 11th May 1:30-4pm and part 2 Saturday 8th June 10:30-3:30pm. Payment covers both sessions. \nPart 1 Saturday 11th May 1:30-4pm \nThe pattern we will be using is the Sew Different Triple tuck smock dress. Please click here to view the pattern. \n\n\nIn this session we will accurately take our body measurements to determine what size or sizes we will need to use with the pattern. We will then prepare our pattern and cut out our fabric\, transferring all pattern markings and finishing the raw edges with an overlocker. This means we will be ready to sew our dress in the next session. \n\n\nSize range: approximately UK 8-26 – please use your body measurements compared to the sizing on the pattern\, do not use your ready to wear size to estimate the size needed on the pattern as they can vary significantly. \n\nMinor fitting issues such as grading between a couple of sizes\, or lengthening/shortening can be dealt with\, but fitting issue requiring more complex adjustments will not be possible in the time constraints of this session. DESCRIPTION:Join Debbie and learn to make amigurumi creatures. \nDebbie will show you a variety of techniques for making amigurumi creatures including stitching in the round\, increasing and decreasing\, and stitching together after stuffing. \nA pair of safety eyes will be included with a choice of patterns for you to choose from. \nWhat do you need to bring? \nEither a 3mm or 3.5mm crochet hook and DK yarn. \nThe choice of amigurumi will be ice cream\, a narwhal and/or a duck. If you would like to make multi coloured creatures please bring several colours of yarn with you. \nPrevious experience required?  \nThis session is designed for beginners who have some experience of crochet. You should be able to do a chain and double crochet.
