SUMMARY:I wish I could quilt! Beginners Quilting Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This is a 6 week workshop\, with one session each week. If you cannot attend them all\, please let us know and we will try and accommodate you as much as possible! \nWelcome to our first Beginners Quilting workshop with Helene. If you have looked at beautiful quilts and thought how lovely it would be if you could make them too then this is your chance to learn. Helene will slowly guide you through all aspects of quilting\, from choosing colours and patterns to binding and finishing your quilt off. This is not a learning to quilt race\, it is a relaxed quilting stroll! You even get a free “Space to Craft’ session at Bugweed’s for 6 hours\, usually costing £14 which means you can come and spend time consolidating your learning and take some will earned ‘me time’! \nI wish I could quilt! \nEach week there will be different a focus for learning and slowly but surely your quilt\, skills and confidence will bloom! \nWeek 1 \nFabric choices\, layout of colours\, piecing squares in pairs and then into a block of 4. \nWeek 2 \nOrganising blocks and sewing blocks together. \nWeek 3 \nAdding borders\, choosing a backing fabric and basting with 505 spray. \nWeek 4 \nQuilting using straight lines 1/4in from the ditch or diagonal lines. \nWeek 5 \nMake and attach the binding. \nWeek 6 \nHand sew the binding down\, finish off your quilt and even have chance to make a label for it! \nWhat do you need to bring? \n\nSewing machine\nEnthusiasm\nA notebook and pen\n\nWhat is included? \n\n5 fat quarters of quilting cotton\nbatting (wadding) for your quilt\nthread\none free ‘Space to Craft’ day at Bugweed’s usually costing £14\n10% off all purchases in the shop for your quilt\n\nRequired sewing knowledge/experience \nThis workshop is suitable for beginners to quilting. You will need to be familiar with your machine and how to use it’s basic features such as winding and inserting the bobbin\, threading up your machine and needle\, changing the feet and needle and sewing a straight stitch. This session is not suitable for complete sewing machine beginners however\, you do not need to have any experience of quilting. \nAbout our tutor \nHelene is not only an all round fabulous person but also a fabulous quilter! She has many years of teaching little people in school and so has the patience of a saint\, which makes teaching quilting to us adults a breeze! Helene loves quilting with a passion and can be found at her beloved Bernina sewing machine on an evening and weekend. She is part of the Yorkshire Modern Quilters group and enjoys experimenting with colour and pattern in her quilts\, bags and other hand made items. Helene is very understanding of people’s individual needs and ways of learning so if you have any worries\, concerns or questions about the workshops please just ask.

SUMMARY:Bugweed's Sewing School - Stevie Tunic in a day!
DESCRIPTION:Please note this is a 3 session workshop. \nOne payment covers all sessions and the pattern. Fabric is not included for this workshop but you will be able to enjoy a 15% discount on all purchases at Bugweed’s ready for the day! \n  \n\nEnjoy learning how to make a versatile garment using this fantastic Tilly And The Buttons pattern. The Stevie tunic is the perfect introduction to dress making and offers both a short and long version without fastenings so no buttonholes or zips to get your head round! Choose from a top or above the knee dress length. \nCatie will guide you through reading the pattern\, cutting out the fabric and sewing up the garment. There will be a new techniques to learn such as sewing a button loop or neck ties and a patch pocket. \nPlease note that you will need to bring your fabric with you to Session 1. There is further guidance below regarding how much you will need. \n\n\n\n\nRequired sewing knowledge/experience for both sessions\n\n\n\nYou need to be able to change stitches\, stitch length and stitch width on your machine. This workshop is aimed at beginners but not sewers who have never used a machine before! \nIt would be useful if you are familiar with your machine and how to use its basic features such as winding and inserting the bobbin\, threading up your machine and needle. \nWhat will you need to bring for both sessions? \n\n\n\nYour sewing machine and instruction book\nFabric and thread… please see tables below for fabric requirements. If you need any help just get in touch!                                                        \nEnthusiasm!\n\n\nMachines are available to hire so please let us know if you would like to use one of our machines.

This is the perfect workshop for quilters who have begun their quilting journey and want to enjoy festive project or more experienced quilters who would like to relax and enjoy quilting without an over complicated pattern to follow. Use a festive charm pack and create a cute patchwork Christmas tree using squares and half square triangles. DESCRIPTION:Feeling festive? Well Helen certainly is! Join her for a full day to create a quilted wreath in all your favourite festive fabrics! \nThis stunning wreath is made using the Dresden plate template and is a great way to show of your quilting skills to everyone who comes to your door! \nOur Block Of The Month\, BOTM\, sessions are full of support and friendship and we welcome both newcomers and regulars. This is the only time this workshop will run this year. \nWhat do you need to bring? \n\nSew Easy Dresden template\, at least 8.5″ deep\nA range of Christmas Fabrics at least 0.5m in total\nRibbons for hanging and bows\nThread\n28mm rotary cutter\n1/4” foot or capability to move needle on your machine to 1/4” (ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY)\nfabric marking pen\n\nWhat is included? \n\n1kg of stuffing for the wreath inner\nLight refreshments\nLaughter and friendship\n\nRequired sewing knowledge/experience \nThis workshop is suitable for all intermediate quilters. You will need to be familiar with your machine and how to use it’s features such as winding and inserting the bobbin\, threading up your machine and needle\, changing the feet and needle and sewing a straight stitch. This session is not suitable for complete sewing machine beginners. You must have a 1/4″ foot or the ability to move your needle to the 1/4″ seam allowance.
