DESCRIPTION:Join Debbie to learn how to crochet! This workshop is suitable for children and/or adults. \nIn this session Debbie will teach you how to make chain\, double and treble crochet stitches. You will have the opportunity to practise those and gain confidence\, making a square with them. \nLeft or right handed. Everyone is welcome. \nThis workshop is suitable for children aged 12+ and/or adults. All children will need to be accompanied by an adult. SUMMARY:Sewing School: Buttonhole Skills Session
DESCRIPTION:This session is all about buttonholes. Gill will share her hints and tips on buttonholes\, including how to prepare your buttonhole before sewing\, techniques for buttonhole placement\, using an automatic button function\, using a stepped buttonhole function\, sewing a buttonhole without any automation. By the end of the session you will: \n\nHave sewn a buttonhole using an automatic buttonhole function (if your machine is compatible)\nHave sewn a buttonhole using a stepped buttonhole function (if your machine is compatible)\nHave sewn a buttonhole without any automation\nLearnt techniques for preparing your buttonhole before sewing it\, to avoid problems\nSewn at least two buttonholes that are lined up\nUnderstand the key principles of button placement\n\nRequired sewing knowledge and experience \nA good basic knowledge of a sewing machine and be able to sew a straight stitch. Attendees need to be familiar with loading a bobbin\, changing a needle and changing the foot on their sewing machine. \nThis session is not suitable for absolute beginners that haven’t got experience of using a sewing machine or sewing fabric together. \nFabric and tool requirements \nPlease bring your own sewing machine and supplies with you. You will need to have a buttonhole foot\, buttonhole stabiliser plates\, two colours of thread – a contrasting colour to be used in the bobbin and marking tools (preferably a heat erasable pen). \nEverything else you will need will be provided for the workshop.

DESCRIPTION:Do you love quilting and want to give back to our community? \nWhy not come along to our open studio day and quilt for one of our nominated charities\, Quilt for Care Leavers. \nBring your own blocks and fabric to work on or feel free to use fabric from our stash. Block patterns are available for inspiration. \nAll finished quilts will go to a loving home. \nThe studio is open all day. You are welcome to stay for as long as you like. We have plenty of space for you to spread out. Ironing equipment for the perfect press. Hot and cold drinks and a toilet. \nThe studio is available free of charge. We do ask you to book a place so we know how many people to expect.
