SUMMARY:Bloom Together - Embroidery in 3d
DESCRIPTION:Our summer holiday workshops are all about creativity through textiles and media and are aimed at children and adults developing their skills in a range of areas and more importantly a chance to create and develop a love of being free to create. \nJoin Debbie on this teen (12+) or adult workshop to create 3d flora and forna sculptures using embroidery and solufleece. Solufleece is a wash-away interfacing used create a structure on which to decorate. Once rinsed\, only the decoration is left and the interfacing has disappeared! This is often used in textiles art and is a great way to bring your sewing ideas into the 3d world! \nThis workshop will be a sewing machine based session. Machines can be provided but we encourage you to bring your own – it’s a great way to learn on them! \nWhat will I need to bring? \n\nsewing machine that you can drop the feed-dogs on (Please get in touch if you need help with this!)\nan open toe embroidery foot/ free motion embroidery foot\ncreativity and enthusiasm!\n\nAll materials are included in the price! There will be a short break in the workshop with refreshments. \nWe are a neurodivergent friendly studio and understand that some people need more breaks than others. If you or your teen requires workshop adjustments please get in touch and let us know. We are more than happy to accommodate a range of needs. \nPlease note\, this workshop is for individuals over 12 years old. We also welcome teens who would prefer to have their adult with them. Only book a place for those who are creating sculptures.

SUMMARY:Embracing Creativity: Photographs on Fabric
DESCRIPTION:Come to Bugweed’s and enjoy embracing your creative side! \nHave you been intrigued by photos on fabric? Are you thinking about how to include a photo in a piece of textile art or on a memory item? Well this workshop is definitely for you! \nDebbie will lead you through the process from your photo printed on Rico Creative Fabric to embellishing it with collage\, embroidery and other such techniques. This is your chance to make something really fun to cherish or even give as a gift to a loved one. \nAll materials are included in the cost of the workshop – the Creative Paper is £5 per sheet and is also included! Bring your sewing machine if you would like to use some of the stitches that your machine provides. \nYou will need to send us your photo which we can then prepare for printing. It will be printed before the workshop for you but the process will be demonstrated on the evening. This will help you maximise the workshop time for embellishment and creativity! Please get in touch after booking your place on info@bugweedslimited.co.uk and we will get back to you about the photo requirements. \nYou will need to bring \n\nyour sewing machine if needed\nany specific embellishments that you are wanting to use\nyour creativity!\n\nYou will achieve \n\nusing photos in a new way on fabric\nlearning different embellishment techniques\nexploring your creativity through mindful sewing and art\n\nThis workshop is aimed at all creatives aged 16 and over who are looking to enhance their skills in textiles and art. This whole project will be hand sewn so no machine needed and no experience needed! We encourage children of any age from 8+ to come along with their adult. You can either both sew one or work on the same one! \nIf you are a beginner to sewing\, whether adult or child\, Debbie will guide you through this project and demonstrate some simple stitches along the way. You will leave with a beautifully completed ladybird broach with enough fabric in your goody bag to go home and make another one! Yes! That’s buy one ticket\, get a goody bag free!! \nAll materials and a goody bag are included in the price! There will be a short break in the workshop with refreshments. \nWe are a neurodivergent friendly studio and understand that some people need more breaks than others. If you or your child requires any workshop adjustments please get in touch and let us know. We are more than happy to accommodate a range of needs. \nPlease note\, this workshop is for individuals aged 8 and over. Up to 2 children are welcome with one adult. SUMMARY:Make Your Own Quilted Jacket
DESCRIPTION:Please note this is a two part workshop. \nPart 1 Saturday 9th August 10.00am – 4.00pm \nPart 2 Saturday 16th August 10.00am – 4.00pm \nOne payment covers both sessions. Materials are NOT included. There is a 10% discount on all fabrics purchased for the workshop by attendees. \nDay 1 Saturday 9th August 10.00am – 4.00pm \nThe first session of this two day workshop will be focused on making the pattern for your quilted jacket and then piecing your patchwork together. Graham will guide you through the process of using your oversized sweatshirt to create a paper pattern which will then be used on the second day. You will also make up your quilt top using your own material which you have chosen prior to the day. \nBetween the two days you will need to quilt your top\, batting and lining together. Graham is kindly offering his services at a reduced rate of £35 to quilt your fabric ready for Day 2. If you are happy to quilt it yourself that is also great but will need to be quilted by Day 2. \n\nDay 2 Saturday 16th August 10.00am – 4.oopm \n\n\n\nIn this session you will be using your paper pattern to cut out and then construct your quilted jacket. Graham will help you construct the jacket and will be on hand to provide hints and tips for the tricky bits! An overlocker will be available for those who would like to overlock seams. You will hopefully leave with your quilted jacket finished or very nearly complete! \n\n\n\n\n\nRequired sewing knowledge/experience for both sessions\n\n\n\nYou will need to have experience making simple quilt tops prior to the workshop and understand how to use your sewing machine. This is not a beginners class and is ideally for those quilters who would like to construct a garment. \nWhat will you need to bring for both sessions? \n\n\n\nyour sewing machine\na layer cake or the equivalent of 2.5m of fabric for the patchwork\n1m suitable batting ie a thin\, breathable natural fibre such as cotton or bamboo\nlining fabric (this can be purchased after Day 1)\na sweatshirt one size bigger than usually worn\nmatching thread\n\n\nMachines are available to hire so please let us know if you would like to use one of our machines.
