Named the ‘Expanding Boxy Craft Case’\, this essential item of your bag collection will give you lots of space to carry all sorts of items!\n\nHelen will guide you through drafting your own pattern for the zipped case and then help you construct your bag using fat quarters and half meter pieces. DESCRIPTION:Please note this is a two part workshop. \nPart 1 Thursday 7th May 6.30pm – 9.00pm \nPart 2 Thursday 14th May 6.30pm – 9.00pm \nOne payment covers all sessions and materials and pattern is included. \nPart 1 Thursday 7th May 6.30pm – 9.00pm \nThe first session of this Simply Stretch sewing course will focus on the differences between sewing stretch fabrics and woven fabrics. Catie will provide essential information as to how to achieve the best results when sewing jersey fabrics and will introduce you to the unisex t-shirt pattern which will be used. You will be guided through finding your size and cutting out the pattern and fabric ready for sewing! \n\nPart 2 Thursday 14th May 6.30pm – 9.00pm \n\n\n\nIn this session you will be sewing up your t-shirt. Catie will help you with which stitch and thread to use and make sure that any finishing techniques provide you with a great garment in the end. There may also be the opportunity to go one the studio overlocker machine. \n\nIf patterns need to be lengthened/shortened this can easily be can be dealt with! \n\n\n\n\nRequired sewing knowledge/experience for both sessions\n\n\n\nYou need to be able to change stitches\, stitch length and stitch width on your machine. This workshop is aimed at beginners but not sewers who have never used a machine before! \nIt would be useful if you are familiar with your machine and how to use it’s basic features such as winding and inserting the bobbin\, threading up your machine and needle. \nWhat will you need to bring for both sessions? \n\n\n\nYour sewing machine and instruction book\nEnthusiasm!\nYour pattern from the Brilliant Beginners pj course if you attended\n\n\nMachines are available to hire so please let us know if you would like to use one of our machines.

SUMMARY:Brilliant Buttonholes
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Skills Sessions of Bugweed’s Sewing School with Hannah. In this session you will work on becoming a master of buttonholes! Many a sewist dreads the buttonhole feature on their garments and so now is your chance to conquer that fear and become confident in sewing a buttonhole. Hannah will be working through both a one step and four step buttonhole. She will also be teaching a bound buttonhole technique for advancing your skills even more! There will be time to ask questions and lots of practicing your sewing skills. \nRequired sewing knowledge and experience \nA good basic knowledge of a sewing machine and be able to sew simple stitches. Attendees need to be familiar with loading a bobbin\, changing a needle and changing the foot on their sewing machine. \nThis session is not suitable for absolute beginners that haven’t got experience of using a sewing machine or sewing fabric together. Please see our Brilliant Beginners workshops for more help with starting using your sewing machine. \nFabric and tool requirements \nPlease bring your own sewing machine and supplies with you. Your machine does not have to have a one step buttonhole foot as a range of methods of buttonhole sewing will be covered but please remember to bring the buttonhole foot that belongs to your machine! If you have any fabric marking tools please bring these too. \nEverything else you will need will be provided for the workshop.
