Festive Quilting

This is a 3 week workshop, with one session each week. If you cannot attend them all, please let us know and we will try and accommodate you as much as possible!

Join us on our Festive Quilting workshop with Helene. This is the perfect workshop for quilters who have begun their quilting journey and want to enjoy festive project or more experienced quilters who would like to relax and enjoy quilting without an over complicated pattern to follow. Use a festive charm pack and create a cute patchwork Christmas tree using squares and half square triangles. Let Helene guide you through the pattern, offering advice regarding colour, piecing techniques and finishing skills and sew a small quilt perfect as a wall hanging or little lap quilt!

Each week there will be a different stage of the pattern taught and focused on.

Week 1

Fabric choices, layout of colours, half square triangle cutting techniques.

Week 2

Organising blocks and sewing blocks together.

Week 3

Adding borders, choosing a backing fabric and basting with 505 spray.

Required sewing knowledge/experience

This workshop is suitable for beginners to quilting. You will need to be familiar with your machine and how to use it’s basic features such as winding and inserting the bobbin, threading up your machine and needle, changing the feet and needle and sewing a straight stitch. This session is not suitable for complete sewing machine beginners however, you do not need to have any experience of quilting.

About our tutor

Helene is not only an all round fabulous person but also a fabulous quilter! She has many years of teaching little people in school and so has the patience of a saint, which makes teaching quilting to us adults a breeze! Helene loves quilting with a passion and can be found at her beloved Bernina sewing machine on an evening and weekend. She is part of the Yorkshire Modern Quilters group and enjoys experimenting with colour and pattern in her quilts, bags and other hand made items. Helene is very understanding of people’s individual needs and ways of learning so if you have any worries or questions about the workshops please just ask.
