Foundation Paper Piecing – The Pinery

January 20, 2026 @ 1:30 pm - November 17, 2026 @ 3:30 pm
£95.00
Welcome to our Pinery Quilt – Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP) Workshop with Helene.
If you’ve admired intricate quilt designs and thought “I could never make that”, this workshop is here to gently prove you wrong! Using the beautiful Pinery pattern by Lou Orth Designs, Helene will guide you through the Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP) technique in a calm, supportive and confidence-building way. https://louorthdesigns.com
This is a long-term, relaxed quilting journey rather than a rushed project. There will be two taught sessions to introduce you to FPP and get you confidently started, followed by a series of monthly makers sessions where you can work on your blocks at your own pace, ask questions, and enjoy sewing alongside others. In November, we’ll come together for a whole-day finishing session to piece blocks together and make binding.
By the end of the workshop, participants should expect to have a completed quilt top, ready to quilt, bind and enjoy before next Christmas 🎄
If you can’t attend them all, please let us know and we will try and accommodate you as much as possible!
I wish I could make something like that!
Each stage of the workshop builds your skills gradually, helping your confidence grow alongside your quilt. Foundation Paper Piecing may look complicated, but broken down step-by-step it becomes logical, satisfying and a lot of fun.
Previous long-term quilting workshops at Bugweed’s have led to some really special friendships forming. There’s something about sitting side by side, sharing fabric choices, small victories and the odd sewing wobble that brings people together. This workshop is as much about community and connection as it is about making a quilt, and many people leave with not just a finished project, but new sewing friends too.
A wider sew-along community

The Pinery pattern by Lou Orth Designs is being hosted as a wider sew along, meaning quilters from all over the country (and beyond!) will be working on the same design at the same time. Participants are encouraged to share their progress, blocks and finished quilts on social media, adding an extra layer of inspiration, motivation and fun. It’s a lovely way to feel part of something bigger while still enjoying the in-person support of your Bugweed’s group.Workshop structure
