Block of the Month

Welcome to a whole day mastering the kaleidoscope block! This is a simple Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP) project designed for you to develop more accuracy in piecing. The focus of this workshop is not just FPP but also about experimenting with colours in your background pieces to create more interest and contrast. With Helen as your guide, this is the prefect chance to play with colour and pattern in fabrics.

The panel that you will make is perfect for a little wall hanging or mini quilt. It could also be used for a cushion front.

Please note the timing of this month’s workshop. 10.00am – 2.30pm for this month only.

This workshop is repeated in July so please DO NOT book on to both, places are limited!

Our Block Of The Month, BOTM, sessions are full of support and friendship and we welcome both newcomers and regulars.

What do you need to bring?

• 4 or 5 Fat quarters in complementary colours
• 4 Fat quarters of different low volume designs for the background colour background fabrics
• thread
• rotary cutter
• ruler
• 1/4” foot or capability to move needle on your machine to 1/4” (ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY)
• Please use 100% cotton as the finish is much better than a poly cotton

Required sewing knowledge/experience

This workshop is suitable for improving beginners to quilting. You will need to be familiar with your machine and how to use it’s features such as winding and inserting the bobbin, threading up your machine and needle, changing the feet and needle and sewing a straight stitch. This session is not suitable for complete sewing machine beginners. You must have a 1/4″ foot or the ability to move your needle to the 1/4″ seam allowance.
