This month Helen will guide you through using the Drunkards Path template to create a beautiful spring petal block! Mix strong colours and patterns on low volume, neutral backgrounds to create a stunning block which can be made in to a cushion cover. Perfect for your home, for a friend or perhaps for a mother figure…remember its Mother’s Day on the 30th March!
What do you need to bring?-
- Drunkards path acrylic template ( preferably 4 1/2” finished)
- Charm pack or scraps that are at least 5” square for the petal block (which needs to total half a metre in total)
- Half metre of background fabric
- Thread
- 28mm rotary cutter
- 1/4” foot or capability to move needle on your machine to 1/4” (ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY)
- fabric marking pen
- half metre of batting
Required sewing knowledge/experience
This workshop is suitable for beginners to quilting. You will need to be familiar with your machine and how to use it’s basic features such as winding and inserting the bobbin, threading up your machine and needle, changing the feet and needle and sewing a straight stitch. This session is not suitable for complete sewing machine beginners however, you do not need to have any experience of quilting. You must have a 1/4″ foot or the ability to move your needle to the 1/4″ seam allowance. Please get in touch with Bugweed’s if you would like help in sourcing the supplies required.
