Christmas Tree & Santa Table Runner
Get ready for the holidays with this festive Christmas Tree & Santa Table Runner! In this fun four-week class, students will create a charming seasonal table runner featuring pieced Christmas trees and an adorable Santa motif.
This project is perfect for quilters who want to practice both patchwork piecing and raw-edge appliqué. The trees are constructed with simple piecing techniques, while Santa is created using fusible appliqué for a quick and easy finish. Choose a variety of prints for a scrappy, whimsical look, or solids for a clean, modern style.
By the end of the class, you’ll have a finished festive holiday runner ready to decorate your table or gift to someone special. Finished quilt size: 13” × 50”.
What do you need to bring?
- 60cm white solid OR assorted white-on-white scraps
- Assorted green prints for 8 trees: 8 scraps at least 5¼” × 10” (15cm x 25cm)
- Brown scrap: 4” × 6” (11cm x 16cm)
- 1m backing fabric
- 30cm binding fabric
- Black fabric marker
- Matching thread for Santa appliqué

- Scraps for Santa: red, skin tone, pink, black, gold, and white texture
- Batting: 18” × 58” (46cm x 147cm)
- 12cm lightweight paper-backed fusible web
- Paper template pieces

About our tutor
Helene is not only an all round fabulous person but also a fabulous quilter! She has many years of teaching little people in school and so has the patience of a saint, which makes teaching quilting to us adults a breeze! Helene loves quilting with a passion and can be found at her beloved Bernina sewing machine on an evening and weekend. She is part of the Yorkshire Modern Quilters group and enjoys experimenting with colour and pattern in her quilts, bags and other hand made items. Helene is very understanding of people’s individual needs and ways of learning so if you have any worries, concerns or questions about the workshops please just ask.
