This is a 6 week, 15 hour, garment making and quilting journey, with one session each week. If you cannot attend them all, please let us know and we will try and accommodate you as much as possible!
Hovea Quilted Jacket Workshop
This workshop is probably the most eagerly anticipated of them all! The classic quilted jacket, Hovea by Megan Nielsen, is the perfect jacket pattern to adapt to a patchwork jacket. We will be making one length and working through the pattern, breaking each step down in to simple steps. It is a fantastic drop shoulder design with buttons or a tie fastening which can be individualised with your own colours and fabric patterns. It is lined and finished beautifully with binding.
This project is perfect for intermediate quilters who want to crossover with garment making. Our wonderful tutor Lesley is not only a keen quilter but also a garment making tutor of many years so you will be in very safe hands!
By the end of the class, you’ll have a finished patchwork quilted jacket which you will no doubt wear over and over!
What do you need to bring?
- 2.5m in total of quilting cotton to make the patchwork outer
- 2.5m of quilting cotton to make the jacket lining
- bias binding will be sorted out once the jacket is on its way!
- 2.5m batting
- A machine with a 1/4 in foot
- walking foot is not required but great if you have one!

- 10% discount on fabric and batting for the workshop
Required sewing knowledge/experience
This course is aimed at the intermediate quilters and dressmakers. If you have any questions about the level of skill required, please ask!
About our tutor
We are delighted to welcome Lesley to our tutoring team! She is not only a lovely human being but also a fabulous garment maker who has taught garment making for many years and ran her own sewing school in Rutland. Lesley also loves quilting and other sewing crafts and has an extensive knowledge of all things technical when it comes to garment making! She is calm and friendly and is very skilled at listening to participants and helping them as much as possible to create beautiful items.
