Crochet Skills Saturday

Welcome to the first of two short skills sessions brought to you by Sophie, our resident crochet expert AKA Campeycrafts on Instagram. Sophie will be giving you the confidence to try and begin to master the very first crochet techniques from making a chain to simple pattern reading.

In this crochet skills session, Sophie will demonstrate how to hold your crochet hook and yarn, crochet a chain and you will also try some simple stitches. Later in the session after you have practiced these techniques, you will learn how to read a simple pattern by looking at abbreviations.

Please be aware that these are short skill sessions and you will be developing your skills through practicing rather than producing a crocheted item to take home. Get ready for a quick stop tour of crochet! This is a perfect session for those returning to crochet after a break OR those wanting to see what it’s all about before committing to a longer workshop.

Yarn, hook and light refreshments are included. 

Left or right handed, everyone is welcome from age 14 upwards.

About our tutor

Sophie has been with us at Bugweed’s for over 6 months and is an avid crocheter. She has her own instagram page where she posts her makes and enjoys making toys, jumpers and cardigans. Sophie has the patience of a saint and is ready for all your questions regarding hooks, yarns, crochet and general yarnny matters!
